To realize formation of a stable image and white background and reduction in replenishment using a silver halide color photosensitive material, to obtain a stable image in continuous development, and also to provide a direct digital color proof using an FM screen process while achieving formation of an image whose color reproducibility is close to that obtained by printing.
An image forming method is disclosed in which a silver halide color photosensitive material loaded in a cartridge and drawn from the same is subjected to scanning exposure on the basis of dotted image information with three or more light sources different from one another in wavelength on a rotating drum scanning exposure unit to record an area coverage modulation dot image, and then development, bleach fixing, washing or stabilization, and drying are carried out, wherein the rotating drum scanning exposure unit has a function to independently control density and dot gain, a washing liquid or a stabilizing liquid is kept at ≥40°C, and the replenishment quantity of the above washing liquid or stabilizing liquid is regulated to ≤50% of the total replenishment quantity in processing units.
