To enhance attracting force to a transfer material and the transfer efficiency and to form a high-quality image free from color slippage and toner scatter, by allowing a transfer-material carrying member to contain a dielectric ceramic being ferroelectric substance, which is dispersed in a resin.
A transfer-material carrying member contains a dielectric ceramic being a ferroelectic substance, which is dispersed in a resin, and a toner image is transferred by the application of a transfer bias to the transfer- material carrying member. In this device, within the loop of the transfer belt 10, transfer means are arranged opposite to corresponding toner-image-carriers and a transfer-belt electrifying means and a transfer-material ground are provided on the lower-end side of it. The transfer belt 10 contains the dielectric ceramic 18 with the resin 19 as a binder, and is a loop-like endless belt in which the butting end faces of a sheet, molded in the form of a single-layer sheet, are joined together by ultrasonic fusion. The dielectric ceramic 18 is the ferroelectric substance.
