Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress a reduction in image quality and reduce wear of a photoreceptor.SOLUTION: The present image forming method is an image forming method of bringing a charging roller 212 into contact with a surface of a photoreceptor 211 to charge the photoreceptor 211 to perform image formation. The photoreceptor 211 has an intermediate layer 211b, a charge generating layer 211c, and charge transport layers 211d, 211e laminated in this order on a conductive substrate 211a; the hardness of the first charge transport layer 211e provided on the outermost surface of the photoreceptor 211 is higher than the hardness of the charge transport layer 211d adjacent to the first charge transport layer 211e. When the first charge transport layer 211e remains, an image forming apparatus applies, to the charging roller 212, a first bias obtained by superimposing an AC voltage on a DC voltage, and when the first charge transport layer 211e is worn and the second charge transport layer 211d is present on the outermost surface of the photoreceptor 211, applies a second bias having only a DC voltage to the charging roller 212.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
