To provide an image generating apparatus capable of detecting the attitude of a photographing apparatus without being affected by various operating environments and processing generation of an image in a short processing time in real time.
An acceleration sensor and a gyro sensor as a position attitude information acquisition means for acquiring position attitude information are provided at the middle of the inside of an active sensor for acquiring an omnidirectional stereoscopic image. The image generating apparatus is provided with a conversion means for acquiring three-dimensional distance information from image information temporally synchronously with the obtained attitude information and converting furthermore the three-dimensional distance information into world coordinate system corresponding three-dimensional distance information wherein the active sensor is located on the basis of the position attitude information.
