PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image generating system capable of forming a real and high quality image with small data amount, a program, and an information storage medium.
SOLUTION: Extended color data obtained, by extending the compressed color data (movie texture) of an original image, is converted into α value by a conversion rule, to allow the color data to correspond to the α value, and an α synthesizing processing is performed, based on the α value. According to this conversion rule, the color data (red) near the profile of a displayed object (flame) is made to correspond to the α value for turning the displayed object semi-transparent (when the original image includes a blue back image, blue color data is made to correspond to the α value for turning the displayed object transparent). Based on a look-up table LUT1 corresponding the color data to index numbers, the extended color data is converted into the index numbers, and the index numbers are converted into the α values by an index color texture mapping using the LUT2 for making the index numbers correspond to the α values. The color data obtained by LUT2 may be mapped, undisturbed to the object OB.
