To provide an image photographing apparatus capable of outputting an image without using a personal computer by directly connecting an image output device thereto, and preventing eroneous operation when printing a plurality of images.

The image photographing apparatus comprises: a means for converting an optical image representing an object into an electric signal by means of an imaging means and storing image data representing the electric signal on an information recording medium; and a communication means for transmitting an output instruction signal of the image data to an image output device and receiving an output completion signal to the output instruction signal from the image output device. The image photographing apparatus further comprises: a means for selecting image data to be outputted; a copy designating means for designating and storing the number of output copies; and the communication means which compares the designated number of copies with the number of output completion signals received for the selected image data and transmits the output instruction signal to the image output device in a case where the number of copies is larger than the number of output completion signals.
