To provide an imaging apparatus capable of protecting copyright and preventing forgery of bills, negotiable securities, etc., when photographing an image.

The imaging apparatus includes: an imaging means which photographs a subject to obtain a photographic image; a storage means wherein a specific image is stored; and a collation means which collates the photographic image obtained by the imaging means with the specific image in the storage means. Furthermore, the imaging apparatus includes a recording control means. The recording control means records the photographic image into a recording medium in a first format in the case that the specific image is determined to be included in the photographic image, as the collation result of the collation means. The recording control means records the photographic image into the recording medium in a second format in the case that the specific image is determined to be not included in the photographic image. A CPU 1 has functions of respective means.
