In a recording mode, YUV data (color-difference multiplex signal) equivalent to one frame which is outputted by a color process circuit 11 in a fixed cycle is periodically written on DRAM 14 through DMA transfer via a direct memory access(DMA) controller 12. The write of the YUV data equivalent to one frame is performed through a prescribed image map. Also, the controller 12 reads YUV data that is periodically expanded on the DRAM 14 from the circuit 11 in accordance with the image map and outputs it to a video encoder 15. Then, the encoder 15 generates a video signal based on information that is automatically updated in accordance with periodical updation of image information that is taken in by a CCD 6 on the DRAM 14 and show a current image on a display 16 even without using a VRAM controller nor VRAM.
