Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a picture signal suitable for a computer or a printer or the like by estimating properly a missing complementary color of a picture element through the use of plural formulae so as to generate RGB three primary color signals without deteriorating the saturation and the band width while suppressing the generation of a false color to a minimum.
CONSTITUTION: The relation Wrc={(Yc-Y1) /(Y2-Y1)}*(Wr2-Yr1)+Wr1 (1) is assumed for Wr desired to be estimated where Wr1 and Wr2 are existing values of each complementary color Wr (Wr=Mg+Ye), and Y1, Y2, Y3 are luminance values of the same picture element. Or, the relation Wrc=(Wr1+Wr2)/2 (2) which is used in the conventional method may be. Or, the relation Wrc=Wr1+(Yc- Y1)*K (3) may be adopted by using an optional coefficient K. The three kinds of formulae are integrated respectively in a circuit. The estimation method of a 1st complementary color estimate means 8 uses formula (2), the estimation method of a 2nd complementary color estimate means 9 uses formula (3), and the estimation method of a 3rd complementary color estimate means 10 uses formula (1). The three estimation methods are used adaptively.
