PURPOSE: To utilize deflection correction through the use of a variable apex angle prism and automatic focus adjustment simultaneously.
CONSTITUTION: The apex angle of a variable apex angle prism 10 is revised in response to the deflection of a camera detected by a deflection sensor 32 and the optical axis is deflected in a direction to eliminate the deflection of the camera. A projector 26 and a light receiver 28 are arranged to a rear side of the variable apex angle prism 10 so that the projection optical axis and the light receiving optical axis of the projector 26 and the light receiver 28 of the automatic focus adjustment device are deflected in interlocking with the deflection of the image pickup axis by the deflection correction. The focus adjustment by a focusing lens 14a is continued against the deflection of a prescribed value response to the deflection detected by the deflection sensor 32 and the focusing lens 14a is stopped at a just preceding position when the deflection is a prescribed value or over.
