PURPOSE: To provide an image pickup device which can normally record the voices in a stereophonic way even when the image pickup device is tilted right and left.

CONSTITUTION: A case 23 of a video camera 20 stores a microphone unit 10 which contains the microphone elements 1 and 2 that are fixed to a plate 3. The plate 3 is provided with a rotary shaft 4 which is placed on a right-left center line and above an up-down center line of the plate 3, and a weight 5 which placed on the right-left center line and under the up-down center line of the plate 3 respectively. Furthermore the shaft 4 is rotatably supported by a bearing 6 attached to the body 21 of the camera 20. Therefore the rotary motion of the body 21 is not transmitted to the shaft 4 via the bearing 6 even when the body 21 revolves right and left around the shaft 4, and the weight 5 is always kept stable and downward in the vertical direction. Thus both elements 1 and 2 can record the voices in a stereophonic way and in a normal direction.
