Abstract:
To solve the problem that shading added to an image may be brought into unsuitable state in accordance with an aspect ratio of the image.
In an image processing apparatus which adds shading emphasized more than optical characteristics of a photographing lens to image data obtained by performing photoelectric conversion of subject light received by an imaging element through the photographing lens, the image processing apparatus acquires the aspect ratio of the image, determines the characteristics of the shading to be added to the image data on the basis of the acquired aspect ratio of the image, and adds the shading corresponding to the determined characteristics to the image data.
