A color difference signal correction unit performing pixel value correction of an interpolation color difference image calculates the degree of similarity of a target pixel neighborhood region including a target pixel becoming a correction object, and an addition candidate pixel neighborhood region including an addition candidate pixel selected from a vertical line pixel adjoining the target pixel or an addition candidate region set on a horizontal pixel line, and then calculates a corrected pixel value of the target pixel by pixel value synthesis processing while adjusting the contribution ratio of the pixel value of each addition candidate pixel. The degree of similarity is calculated using the luminance value, pixel value of a smoothed color difference image, or a symmetrical position pixel at a position symmetrical to the addition candidate pixel with respect to the target pixel.
