Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus that can reproduce a color characteristic close entirely to a target color characteristic while effectively utilizing a high luminance color reproduction area of an image output device.
SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus is provided with a color correction table from which a color conversion quantity in response to the lightness L is obtained from white color conversion amounts (ΔLw, Δuw, Δvw) and uses the color correction table to apply desired color correction to an image. In the color correction table, as the lightness decreases, the color conversion amount gets smaller and the color conversion amount is nearly zero when the lightness is smaller than a prescribed value Lmin. Further, the color is corrected by the color correction table by moving a color point in a direction where the lightness is maintained or moving the color point in a direction when the lightness is increased.
