Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus for enhancing the accuracy of color conversion.
SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus applies color conversion to first image data to obtain second image data by referring to a color conversion table wherein the first image data expressed in a first color system and the second image data expressed in a second color system are made correspondent to each other. The second image data stored in the color conversion table are stored in a state in which a gradation change in the second image data is proportionally increased in a prescribed gradation region and the gradation change in the remaining gradation regions is subjected to encode processing, the encode processing being a processing of compressing the gradation change. In the case of performing the color conversion, the color conversion table is rebuilt up after applying decode processing to the color conversion table and the color conversion is performed while referring to the table resulting from applying the encode processing to the obtained color conversion table. The color conversion with high accuracy is attained by applying decode processing to the second image data thus obtained.
