To cancel white dots occurring in a photographed image due to marine snow phenomenon, etc. without using an external strobe device, thereby generating a clear image.
A movement amount calculation unit 13 executes pattern matching on the whole of left-eye image data which is the main image and right-eye image data which is a reference image, respectively, to calculate the amount of movement of the reference image relative to the main image. A white dot detection unit 14 detects the presence of a white dot in the left-eye image data. A coordinate calculation unit 15 finds the coordinates of the reference image which is equivalent to the coordinates of a white dot on the basis of the calculated amount of movement. A buffer control unit 12 reads out the right-eye image data stored at a buffer 11R address position which is equivalent to the coordinates of the reference image. An image interpolation unit 17 replaces the detected white dot portion in the left-eye image data supplied as the main image data from a buffer 11L with the right-eye image data supplied as white dot data from the white dot detection unit 16 and outputs the result as an interpolation image.
