An image processor 61 has a video interface for SD images and feeds a Codec unit 62 with images in the image size of the SD image. But the image processor 61 processes images after converting the image size of images V1 obtained from an imaging unit 11 to a required image size for recording on a recording medium 15, generates images in the image size of the SD image, and feeds the Codec unit 62 therewith. The Codec unit 62 extracts an image-processed image V'1a from the SD images of the image size fed from the image processor 61, applies a specified compression process to the extracted image V'1a, and feeds the recording medium 15 with coded data obtained from the result.
