Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable prevention of reduction in a resolution feeling upon performing a pixel shift control by displacing an optical modulation element.SOLUTION: A projector 1 including: a light source 30; an image display unit 50 having a DMD551; an illumination optical system unit 40; and a projection optical system unit 60 comprises a movement control unit 12 that periodically displaces the DMD551 between a first state serving as a predetermined position and a second state displacing from the first state. As to a displacement period in which the DMD551 is displaced from the first state to the second state or from the second state to the first state, where a period of displacing between the first state and a first prescribed position from the first state is a displacement period A, a period of displacing between the second state and a second prescribed position from the second state is a displacement period C, and a period excluding the displacement period A and the displacement period C is a displacement period B, an image to be projected is blocked in the displacement period B.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
