To easily correct inclination of a carriage without causing a phase difference between the teeth of drive pulleys stretching a drive belt.
The image reading device includes: an adjustment base 65 of an L-cross-section, having a part opposite to the long hole 62b of a fixable bracket 62 and a second bent part 65a formed relative to the part opposite to the long hole 62b so as to be apart from and opposite to a first bent part 62a; a fixing screw 64 that fixes and holds the fixable bracket 62 to the adjustment base 65; and an adjustment screw 66 screwed between the first and second bent parts 62a and 65a. After the fixing screw 64 of the fixable bracket 62 is loosened to release the fixed state of the bracket 62, the adjustment screw 66 is operated. Thereby, running members 50 and 51 fixed to the fixable bracket 62 are moved to correct the inclination of the second carriage 7.
