To provide an image reader capable of preventing the fluctuation in the conveyance speed of photographic films in such a manner that a linear imaging device can exactly read frame images.
The image reader has the linear imaging device which successively reads the frame images formed on the long-sized photographic films having prescribed intervals in a longitudinal direction and having a plurality of through- holes at the ends in a transverse direction during the conveyance of the photographic films and two pairs of conveyance roller bodies which are arranged on the upstream side and downstream side of the conveyance direction of the photographic films with respect to an image reading region and convey the photographic films. The intervals of two pairs of the conveyance rollers are so set that another pair of the conveyance roller bodies exist between the through-holes in the longitudinal direction of the photographic films when the through-holes of the photographic films under conveyance exist in either position of two pairs of the conveyance roller bodies.
