Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent failure occurring when a conveyance path for conveying a document is switched, and save power.SOLUTION: An upper image sensor 62 is arranged in a predetermined position when a document is thinner than a predetermined thickness and rises when the document is thicker than the predetermined thickness by contacting with the conveyed document. A fifth conveyance guide 37 guides the document to a bent conveyance path by descending, and guides the document to a straight conveyance path by rising. An enlargement mechanism 81 lowers the fifth conveyance guide 37 by arranging the upper image sensor 62 in the predetermined position, and raises the fifth conveyance guide 37 by raising the upper image sensor 62. Such an image reader can discharge the document through the conveyance path corresponding to the thickness of the document out of the bent conveyance path and the straight conveyance path, and can save power.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 11
