Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible, in an image reading device that sets a reading surface downward to read a document, to determine the position of a document while the document is set downward without increasing the configuration of the device.SOLUTION: A reading part 6, while a document upper unit 2 is open, irradiates a document set at a position opposite to the reading part with light from a light source 6b provided to read a document, so as to transmit a surface to be read of the document to the rear face side to enable visual determination of the position. A roller pair comprising a plurality of rollers 4, 7, and 10 provided on a document table side 1, and a plurality of rollers 5, 8, and 11 provided on the document upper unit side holds the document and conveys the document to a reading start position by the document upper unit being closed when the position of the document has been determined.
