To avoid a medium discharged from entering into a tray reliably.SOLUTION: A medium discharge device comprises discharge means discharging the medium and a medium receiving tray 22 receiving the medium discharged from the discharge means and capable of switching an expansion state and a storage state, and the medium receiving tray comprises a base tray 56, a main expansion part 58 situated at a medium discharge direction side than the base tray in the expansion state and capable of storing and expanding and at least one sub expansion part 60 situated at the medium discharge direction side than the main expansion part in the expansion state and capable of storing and expanding, and storage space 70 storing at least one sub expansion part is formed and a first projection part 66 projecting toward the storage space is provided as well at the base tray.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 14
