The image recognition device 1, when an image taken by an imaging device 10 is input thereto, detects a face image from the image taken, and determines the order of collating a plurality of registrants based on information indicating the relationship between the probability with which each registrant will be imaged and imaging time, and on the imaging time of the image taken; in accordance with the order of collating, the device collates each registrant's image with the detected face image to specify the registrant who corresponds to the face image.
