The image recorder receives color-decomposed image data from a host unit, and exposes a photosensitive material composed of a plurality of coloring layers to a plurality of light sources for emitting lights of different wavelengths to record color images on the photosensitive material. It comprises a means for exposing the photosensitive material, a paper feed means for feeding the photosensitive material cut into a specified size to the exposing means, and a means for controlling the exposure on the photosensitive material based on the image data. The control means has an automatic intensive mode for recording a plurality of color images on the same photosensitive material after selecting the photosensitive material. When the recorder is operating in the automatic intensive mode, the paper feed means selects or cuts a photosensitive material of a size enough to record a plurality of color images of the same size as the received image data, and, after receiving the a plurality of image data, it records a plurality of images on the selected photosensitive material, based on the plurality of image data.
