To provide an image recording apparatus and an image recording method in which an in-point and an out-point of a photographing cut of an image to be recorded are set in accordance with a rhythm of music to be BGM or a pause between musical tones.

The image recording apparatus is provided with: an imaging means 150 or the like for picking up an image; a recording medium interface 179 or the like for acquiring music; a detection means (information processing means 180) for reproducing the acquired music and detecting a pause in the music; an input means 174 for a user to instruct a recording end of the image; and an image recording means (information processing means 180 or the like) for recording the reproduced music and the acquired image. When the recording end of the image is instructed via the input means 174 during recording of the music and the image, the image recording means (information processing means 180) records the music and the image continuously to the next pause in the music and ends recording the music and the image in the pause of the music.
