To provide an image recording device capable of preventing damage of a belt when an image recording medium is jammed in the image recording medium.
The image recording device has a surface treatment means for applying surface treatment onto a surface of a recording sheet using the belt; an abnormality generation portion specifying means for detecting generation of abnormality and specifying an abnormality generation portion; a recording sheet detection means for detecting existence/kind of the recording sheet in the surface treatment device; and a control means capable of controlling driving of upstream and downstream units of the surface treatment part. In the image recording device, at generation of abnormality, existence/kind of the recording sheet in the surface treatment part is detected and driving of the upstream and downstream units of the surface treatment part is controlled according to the result, thereby, appropriate error control can be performed.
