PURPOSE: To ensure easy selection of an ink and enable high-speed recording, by containing a liquid coloring agent in a gap between an ejecting part and a thermal energy applying means, and disposing an electrical energy applying means in the gap.
CONSTITUTION: A cover 11 provided with a slit 10 is disposed on the upper side of a substrate 15, and a liquid coloring agent 13 is contained in a gap between the substrate 15 and the cover 11. A recording member 12 is disposed on the upper side of the substrate 15, a counter electrode 21 is disposed on the back side of the member 12, and a power source 12 is connected between the counter electrode 21 and an electric field generating electrode 19 to constitute an electrical energy applying means. A power source is connected to electrodes 17, 18 provided respectively at both ends of a heat generating resistor 16 to constitute a thermal energy applying means. Accordingly, an ink is caused to fly under such a temperature as not to cause conspicuous thermal deterioration of the ink, the heat generating resistor or the like and such an electric field as not to cause leakage between the electrodes or other troubles, whereby high-speed high-density recording can be performed.
