PURPOSE: To reuse ink unused in image recording, by forming an ink layer on an ink carrier using flowable ink having stickiness by the application of energy and supplying patternwise energy corresponding to an image signal to transfer the flowable ink having stickiness.
CONSTITUTION: The flowable ink 2 in an ink container 3 has a flow film forming property and shows no stickiness but shows stickness by the application of energy and is obtained by holding a liquid dispersing medium such as water in a crosslinkable structure such as guar gum. The patternwise voltage corresponding to an image signal is applied to the flowable ink 2 from a recording electrode 5 to impart selective stickiness to the flowable ink 2. This ink reaches the ink transfer position in contact with the medium 6 to receive transfer on a transfer roll 4 and is transferred to the medium 6 to receive transfer to form an ink pattern 21.
