PURPOSE: To eliminate defects of an element and to improve the manufacturing efficiency of an image sensor by forming one photoelectric transfer element in an image sensor with two or more photoelectric transfer elements and selecting an appropriate one among them.
CONSTITUTION: Plural photoelectric transfer elements 5a∼5n and 6a∼6n on a conductive substrate 4. Moreover the photoelectric elements 5a, 5b∼5n make a pair with those of 6a, 6b∼6n, respectively. Assuming that the transfer element 5a becomes defective, a common conductive material 7a is cut as shown in a dotted line A. Then, when a conductive electrode 8a is connected to that 9a as shown in a dotted line B, the transfer element 6a can be connected to the conductive electrode 8a. Thus by employing one out of a pair of photoelectric transfer elements, a defective element can be eliminated. Accordingly, the manufacturing efficiency of the image sensor can be improved.
