PURPOSE: To enable even a high definition image to be printed on a large area by transferring the image through a sheet-like elastic film.

CONSTITUTION: An elastic film 1 is fixed by a support 2 on the both ends and maintained level, and a specified drawn line part 3a is formed on the surface of an intaglio plate 3 for printing which is filled with ink 4. A space between the elastic film 1 and the intaglio plate 3 is sealed to form an airtight chamber 5. In addition, an air inlet and outlet hole 5a is provided in a part of the chamber. Air is sucked through the hole 5a to decompress the pressure of the chamber 5. As a result, the elastic film 1 is curved downward to stick to the upper surface of the intaglio plate 3. Then if air is forced into the chamber through the hole, the elastic film 1 is restored to a level position, and the ink 4 of the drawn line part 3a of the intaglio plate 3 sticks to the lower surface of the elastic film 1 and thus is transferred. After this process, a material to be printed 6 is set to a position of the intaglio plate 3, and the pressure of the airtight chamber 5 is reduced again. This caused the elastic film 1 to be curved downward and comes in close contact with the surface of the material 6. Subsequently, the ink 4 is transferred to the surface of the material 6. Next, if air is sent into the chamber 5 through the hole 5a, the elastic film 1 is restored to a level position, and the drawn line part 3a of the intaglio plate 3 is transferred to the surface of the material 6.
