Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a user who is to perform photographing in which a background is to be blurred to easily obtain a background blurred image without performing any complicated operation.SOLUTION: A subject area and a background area are discriminated in accordance with a first image obtained by focusing it to a subject and a second image obtained by focusing it to a background except for the subject. The background in the first image or the second image is blurred in accordance with an area discrimination result and a background blurred image is generated. The first image and the background blurred image are synthesized and the background blurred image is generated. It is determined whether the area can be discriminated in accordance with depth of field. When discrimination of the area is impossible, a focal distance is changed to a focal distance in which the area can be discriminated. The first image and the second image are obtained by the changed focal distance.
