To provide an imaging apparatus and electronic device in which an optical system can be simplified, reduction in costs can be attained and further, even when a stop diameter is changed, reduction in a depth expansion function can be prevented.
An imaging apparatus includes a variable stop 214; an aberration control optical system 210 having an aberration control function for intentionally generating an aberration; an imaging element 220; and an image processing device 240 for forming a primary image as a high-definition final image. An aberration property of the aberration control optical system 210 has a property which is rotation-symmetric around an optical axis and the variable stop 214 is also configured to have an approximately circular shape around the optical axis even when its aperture is changed and, regardless of the aperture of the variable stop 214, has at least one infection point in a refractive index of a spherical aberration within the aperture.
