Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus and a focus adjustment method capable of, when a subject includes an object flashing on and off in a predetermined cycle, performing focusing on the subject upon flashing on or upon flashing off, and preventing focusing time from being lengthened.SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus 100 includes: an autofocus controller 13 for performing autofocus control on the basis of contrast signal values (VF values) generated from imaging signals within a detection area; and a controller 11 upon flashing on/off, for measuring the number of pixels having luminance equal to or above a first threshold value within the detection area of the imaging signals, dividing the measured number of pixels having luminance equal to or above the first threshold value by the number of pixels within the detection area, thereby obtaining a ratio, and when a highlight time slot at which the obtained ratio is equal to or above a second threshold value and a non-highlight time slot not being in the highlight state are alternately repeated in a predetermined cycle, causing the autofocus controller 13 to perform processing, at the highlight time slot or the non-highlight time slot.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
