To provide an imaging apparatus and an image processing program which are capable of reproducing longwise images and oblong images optionally restraining a storage from increasing in capacity without making a user conscious of whether images are stored as longwise images or oblong images when a photographing operation is carried out by the user.
The imaging apparatus includes an image sensor 102 with an nearly square effective imaging region, an image storage 105 that stores, at least in a manner in which data can be read out, one image data corresponding to a center square region, and the other image data corresponding to four rectangular regions that possess each side of the square region as their one side, out of image data corresponding to the nearly square effective imaging region, an image processing unit 103 which reads out one image data corresponding to the center square region and the other image data, which are selected out of image data corresponding to four rectangular regions and necessary for forming longwise images and oblong images, from the image storage 105 and compounds them, and an image display 104 which displays the compounded images.
