To protect an image by providing a process for forming an image and a process for applying a transparent resin to an image forming material through ink jet thereby reducing the quantity of image forming material at low cost.
Protective ink can be ejected to the entire surface of an image forming material by moving a carriage 2 while ejecting ink from respective nozzles and repeating the operation after shifting carriage shafts 10, 11 slightly. In case of an ordinary ink jet printer, uneven recording may results from reciprocating ink ejection but the problem can be eliminated using a substantially transparent ink. Ink may be ejected to the entire surface of image forming material with or without gap. Since ink is not ejected for image recording, the imaging apparatus is advantageous in view point of cost and speed.
