To provide an imaging apparatus which uses a peculiar secret key to encrypt image data having a preset prescribed condition when storing the image data and uses the peculiar secret key to decrypt image data when decrypting the encrypted image data.

The imaging apparatus (digital camera) 10 includes: an imaging part 21 for picking up an image of a subject to output the image as image data; an image data storage part 19; an impression determination part 15 for determining whether or not image data meets the preset prescribed condition; a device-peculiar secret key storage part 13 for storing the secret key; an image encrypting part 16 for generating encrypted image data resulting from encrypting the image data by using the secret key in the case that it is determined by the impression determination part 15 that the image data meets the prescribed condition; and an image decrypting part 17 for decrypting the encrypted image data by using the secret key to restore original image data.
