In an imaging apparatus 1 which includes an imaging optical system 2 and an imaging element including a curved imaging surface 3, the imaging surface 3 is bent so that a distance L from an exit pupil of the imaging optical system 2 becomes shorter gradually toward a peripheral portion 3b from a position 3a on the optical axis. In this case, the imaging optical system 2 includes, for instance, a spherical lens 4.
