To provide an imaging device which uses a lens array of a plurality of lenses and can eliminate the need for a separate arrangement of detecting an ambient brightness and can achieve space saving and low cost by photographing a subject and detecting the illumination of surroundings of the device with use of the same lens array structure.
A visible light removing filter is provided to lens regions 27, 28, 29 as a part of a lens array 3. A subject is photographed by using light which passes through lenses 7, 8, 9 having the visible light removing filter formed thereon, and reaches an imaging element 10 for reception by the imaging element. The illumination of surroundings of the device is detected by utilizing light which passes through a lens 5 as a part of lens regions 24 25, 26 having the visible light removing filter not formed thereon and reaches the imaging element 10.
