To activate a wireless communication function automatically, as required, while suppressing useless power consumption.

In a digital video camera 200, a wireless communication control section 206 judges that video recording is started upon receiving a video recording instruction and activates a wireless communication function by turning a wireless communication interface 207 on. Subsequently, the digital video camera 200 receives information about the destination place of a server 100 from the wireless communication interface 207, and similarly receives image data from an external camera 105 connected with an identical access point 101 through the server 100. When it is judged that data reception has completed, the wireless communication interface 207 is turned off and reception of next video recording instruction is waited.
