Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging device capable of mitigating degradation in focal state detection accuracy in a phase difference detection process based on an image signal read from a specific region of an imaging element in a case of changing a display position during zooming.SOLUTION: An imaging device comprising an imaging element that includes a pixel part including a plurality of photoelectric conversion units photoelectrically converting light beams passing through respective different regions divided from an exit pupil of an imaging optical system to generate image signals for one micro-lens is provided. The imaging device sets specific regions for which the image signals are read from the pixel portion, and determines whether detection of a phase difference succeeds on the basis of reliability of the phase difference between two images obtained by the image signal read from a first specific region if a display region during zooming is changed. If determining that the detection of the phase difference fails, the imaging device changes the specific region for which the image signal is read to a second specific region wider in range than the first specific region.
