PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of allowing a worker to immediately know an abnormality such as a malfunction of an external apparatus such as a lens unit when the external apparatus is attached.SOLUTION: An interchangeable lens 102 is attached to a camera body 101 of a monitoring camera 100 equipped with no display portion. When attaching the interchangeable lens to the camera body, a camera control unit 112 detects the state of the interchangeable lens, drives and controls a device provided in the camera body according to the detection result, and informs an operator of the state of the interchangeable lens.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
