Abstract:
To provide an imaging apparatus capable of shortening a time from a time when a user performs an imaging start operation to a time when an imaging element starts exposure while suppressing image quality deterioration.SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes a focus lens 180 and a motor 186 for driving the same. A imaging element 184 includes multiple pixel units each having a photoelectric conversion unit and a signal holding unit. A system controller 178 controls the imaging elements 184 via a timing generator 189. After the focus lens 180 moves toward a target position X0 and reaches a predetermined range (from X1 to X2) based on the target position X0, when the focus lens 180 is located within the predetermined range, signal charges generated in a photoelectric conversion unit are transferred to a signal holding unit. When the focus lens 180 is located outside the predetermined range, control is performed to discharge the signal charges generated in the photoelectric conversion unit. The signal charges generated in the photoelectric conversion unit during a shooting period is transferred to the signal holding unit for a plurality of times and stored to generate an image signal.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
