To provide an imaging device that, in panorama photographing, shortens a time difference of photographing between a photographing region taken at the beginning and a photographing region taken at the end in a photographing range and improves the quality as well as information accuracy of a composite image.
First, distance information of a target object in each photographing region is obtained by conducting a first camera scan. Next, a synthetic distance histogram of an entire photographing range is created based on the distance information of all the photographing regions. Then, based on the synthetic distance histogram, a plurality of kinds of focus positions to be used in a production photographing are set. Last, a second camera scan for the continuous production photographing is conducted by setting a focus position selected from the plurality of kinds of focus positions for a lens to be used for each photographing region.
