Abstract:
To provide an imaging device and an imaging method for shortening the time taken to generate image data with an amplification factor.SOLUTION: An imaging device 10 includes: an imaging element 13 and an image processing unit 35 that receive subject light through an opening 15 arranged in a housing and generate image data; an illuminometer 17 that detects a brightness level in a surrounding environment; illumination light sources 161, 162 that emit illumination light; a switch 18 including a first filter 181 to prevent the illumination light from entering the imaging element 13 and a second filter 182 to allow the illumination light to enter the imaging element 13 to place one of the first filter 181 or the second filter 182 on a front surface of the imaging element 13 based on the brightness level in the surrounding environment detected by the illuminometer 17; and a setting unit 36 that sets an amplification factor to be used by the image processing unit 35 in generating the image data based on the brightness level in the surrounding environment detected by the illuminometer 17 before the image processing unit 35 starts generating the image data.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
