Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively reduce the lowering of optical performance caused by a diffracted light beams of unnecessary order with respect to wavelength other than optimized wavelength obtained in the case a diffraction type optical element is used so as to highly accurately perform image picking-up, by limiting the wavelength band area of a light passing through the diffraction type optical element so that the influence of the diffracted light beams of the order, which is unnecessary for image formation among the diffracted light beams by the diffraction type optical element is reduced. SOLUTION: The image of an object is formed on the photoelectric conversion surface of a solid image pickup element 12 through an image formation optical system 11, the output signal of the element 12 is processed at a signal processing circuit 13, so that a video signal is obtained. The system 11 has a lens group 14, the diffraction type optical element 15, and an optical member 16. A low-pass filter is provided on the member 16, and also a wavelength band area limiting filter constituting a wavelength band area limiting means having a spectral transmission factor is provided. Thus, the intensity of the diffracted light beams having the order unnecessary for image formation can be reduced to an ignorable extent.
