To provide an image photographing system enabling to acquire information which is difficult to acquire while it can be visually confirmed in a conventional technique, by easily inputting a line image or characters described on a panel on a wall as linear information or character information in addition to handed documents in paper.
The line image is different from a usual video image in basic feature in that its color is a monocolor, its gradation is binary, and spatial frequency characteristics are high. In order to input the line image having the above feature, an image pickup system of an electronic camera has a mode switching means for changing a mode to a monocolor/high resolution input, a means for converting information of a photographed line image into monocolor/bianary vector information, and a means for switching these at the time of photographing the line image information all at once.
