PURPOSE: To obtain a medicinal composition useful as a therapeutic agent for hypertension, having excellent water solubility and medicine absorbing properties, comprising a specific compound and a substance such as polyvinylpyrrolidone.
CONSTITUTION: (A) 1 pt.wt. compound of formula I [R1 is H, alkyl, cycloalkyl, etc.; A1=A2-A3=A4 is CH=CH-CH=CH, N=CH-CH=CH, etc.; R2 and R3 are H, halogen, lower alkyl, etc.; R4 is H or lower alkyl; R5 is group of formula I or (protected)carboxyl; R6 is H, halogen, OH, etc.] such as 2-cyclopropyl-7- methyl-3-[(2'-carboxylbiphenyl-4-yl)methyl] 3H-imidazo[4,5-b] pyridine is blended with (B) preferably 0.5-5 pts.wt. one or more substances selected from polyvinylpyrrolidone, hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose, methyl cellulose, carboxylvinyl polymer and PVA to give the objective medicinal composition.
