To provide a polyimide soluble in an organic solvent.
This method for synthesizing the polyimide soluble in the organic solvent is exemplified as follows: At first, 1, 3, 5-tri(3',4'- dicarboxyphenoxy)benzene is dissolved in acetic anhydride and toluene, and heated under reflux to obtain 1,3,5-tri(3',4'-dicarboxylic anhydride phenoxy) benzene. Then, to a solution obtained by dissolving 1,3,5-tri(3',4'-dicarboxylic anhydride phenoxy)benzene in N,N-dimethylacetamide(DMAc), a solution obtained by dissolving 1,4-phenylenediamine is added. After agitating the reaction solution, a solution obtained by dissolving toluidine is added and further agitated. A polyamide acid having terminal groups of toluidine is obtained. Finally, the obtained polyamide acid is dissolved in DMAc, acetic anhydride and pyridine are added into it and the mixture is left standing. The polyimide having terminal groups of toluylimide is obtained.
