Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a helmet capable of absorbing the energy of a flying object and reducing damage to the body and recessed parts of an inner surface by overlapping one side of a peripheral part of adjacent ceramic chips of a helmet composed of a thermosetting resin-fiber reinforced plastic, etc. SOLUTION: This impact-resistant helmet is obtained by fixing ceramic chips (individual pieces) onto the whole surface or a part of the outer surface of the helmet composed of a thermosetting resin or a thermoplastic resin-fiber reinforced plastic, containing high-strength fibers having >=10×10<6> cm specific tensile strength and >=2.5×10<8> cm specific elastic modulus as a base material and having 5-30 wt.% resin content and overlapping at least one side of peripheral parts of the mutually adjacent ceramic chips. The planar shape of the ceramic chips is preferably a nearly triangular, a square or a hexagonal shape.
